Severn Valley Railway 2009
On the way south to the GWR gala (and to stay with my brother and his missus in Stonehouse) a detour was made to see what was on show at Kidderminster. Warship 821 "Greyhound" stands on the depot on Saturday 11/7/2009.
Just or so visible was Hymek 7029 which is currently undergoing an intensive rebuild.
A general view of the depot with Loadhaul liveried 50135 just or so visible at the rear of the depot. Just to the back and right hand side of 821 was Class 27 D5410 which was sheeted over.
The SVR gala, and a beautiful start to the day. Glorious sunshine and "Greyhound" looking immaculate, awaiting departure from Kidderminster. The date was Saturday 10/10/2009
Newly restored and soon to return to the Mainline, Large logo 50026 stands at Kidderminster.
A backlit pair of Choppers D8188 and D8059 enter Highley heading north to Bridgnorth.
A livery never carried by Class 50s, BR Green D444 "Exeter" stands at Highley ready to back onto it's next working. At this time, it's paintwork was beginning to show signs of bubbling (which became more obvious at the ELR gala the following year when it guested)
Electro-Diesel 73006 stands on shed at Kidderminster with the front of Large logo 47580 visible, which was a guest loco at this gala.
2 Class 52's together in the headshunt at Bridgnorth. "Courier" and "Ranger" recreate the hydraulic era on a small scale on 10/10/2009
Another view of "Ranger"
Like a lot of enthusiasts, I was curious to see what the Loadhaul livery looked like as applied to a Class 50. I have to say that I think it does suit 50135 "Ark Royal" as it stands, shut down, at Bridnorth ready to work back to Kidderminster.
Just a few moments later, it fired up.
Warship 821 waits to back the ecs into Highley ready for a service back to Kidderminster...
.....When guest loco, Stratford Large logo 47580 approached Highley with a working to Bridgnorth.
Exchanging the token, 47580 pulls into Highley. This loco can be seen frequently on the mainline, working charters and ecs for West Coast Rail Company.
A first generation DMU awaits departure from Arley on a shuttle service.
Back at Kidderminster, Railfreight 37906 stands in the company of 50026. 50026 had been rostered to work a few services on both days of the gala, but in the end was a static display.
1S61, a WCML working, stands at Kidderminster but will be unable to get any further north than Brignorth.
